Description
This program is designed to assist Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) in developing themselves further as a nurse practicing in acute complex care and prepare them with the clinical skills to work in an acute complex care setting in Ontario. Emphasis is placed on the application and evaluation of advanced theories and practice in acute primary care, and guidance of others as part of the health care team. Students gain advanced theoretical and experiential knowledge in pharmacology, health assessment and emergency nursing through classroom instruction, simulation labs and practicum placements. In order to provide quality practicum placements, students will be placed in a variety of agencies in the region serviced by the campus. Students are required to provide their own transportation.
Description
In this graduate level program, students learn to provide a client-centred and client driven continuum of treatment for individuals with addiction problems. With a solid framework of individual and group counseling skills, the students study individual, gender and societal considerations and the resulting treatment implications. They practise motivational interviewing techniques and learn the importance of matching client needs with intervention options. In addition, students reconstruct education and prevention strategies and design, facilitate and evaluate such tools.
Description
This one year program is designed to provide paramedics with advanced knowledge and skills for practicing emergency health care and to prepare them to function as a leader in emergency situations. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the ability to safely and competently care for patients of all ages and administer advanced medical treatment measures. The program is comprised of classroom instruction, skills and patient simulation labs, clinical placement and field placement.
